What is HFT?
What is HFT?
High Frequency Trading (HFT) is the computerised trading of any asset (shares, bonds, crypto). Traders use specialised programs to implement trading strategies with high speed servers, like the XENON eXtreme range.
How does HFT work?
HFT requires the asset market (for example, the stock exhange) to provide machine readable access to trading data and execution. Traders then connect to that data and execute trades according to their program on very fast servers like the XENON eXtreme range.
What are the benefits of HFT servers?
By overclocking the CPU, the specialist HFT server can execute trades faster than normal servers. This allows for trading companies to make more trades faster, take advantage of market opportunities, and execute their strategies at an optimal level.
Key challenges in building HFT servers:
Building a server for HFT is a process of managing a range of cascading influences. Overclocking the CPU creates heat, which XENON manages with closed loop direct to chip cooling and high speed fans. The overclocked CPU requires super fast RAM to execute efficiently. All of the components must work together at the right frequency to minimize harmonic interference, or jitter. Finally it must all be tested robustly because it will work 24×7 at high speed and heat making reliability of all the components critical.
